Former minister dies of Covid in Andhra Pradesh

Amaravati: Former minister and BJP senior leader Pydikondala Manikyala Rao, 60, died here on Saturday.

He was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Vijayawada for the past one month ever since he was diagnosed COVID-19 positive and breathed his last today.

Manikyala Rao won from Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district in the 2014 Assembly elections and he along with another MLA Kamineni Srinivas, joined the Chandrababu Naidu cabinet when the TDP and BJP shared power at the Centre and State before they broke the relationship before the 2019 polls.

Manikyala Rao who served as endowments minister, rose from the RSS cadres and joined the BJP in 1989 and endeared himself to the people for his down to earth approach. State BJP president Somu Veerraju, Rajya Sabha member GVL Narasimha Rao and other BJP leaders expressed grief at the untimely death of the senior leader.
