Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday announced that the foundation stone for a Christian Bhavan would be laid at Nagole soon.
Extending his Christmas wishes to Christians in the State during the Christmas celebrations organized at the Lal Bahadur Stadium here, Mr. Rao said the government had allocated 2 acres of land for the Bhavan. However, this was caught in legal tangles so far.
Assuring the gathering that all efforts would be made to see that the Bhavan would be constructed without further delay, the Chief Minister said the orders for this would be issued shortly. The foundation stone, he said, would be laid in four or five days.
Distributing clothes as part of the programme, the Chief Minister also said the the government was sanctioning funds for renovation and construction of temples and masjids across the State.
Likewise, funds would be sanctioned for saving churches, he said, amidst loud cheers from the audience. Attacks on the Christian community will not be tolerated, he said.
Stating that leaders of the Christian community would be invited for lunch in a few days, Mr. Rao said he would discuss and sort out their issues.
Later, pointing out that the State had received bountiful rains this year, he said everyone was happy. Wishing happiness and prosperity as part of his Christmas greetings, the Chief Minister said he wanted everyone to play a role in building ‘Bangaru Telangana’.
Speaker Madhusudhana Chary, Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy and other leaders were present.
