Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Cybercrime police arrested four persons on charges of data theft from a pharmaceutical company and manufacturing the same products in Visakhapatnam of Andhra Pradesh.

The arrested persons were identified as G Srikanth Reddy from Medchal, M Krishna Reddy from Medipally, M Venkat Reddy from Guntur of Andhra Pradesh and S Yogeshwara Rao from Visakhapatnam.

M Krishna Reddy, M Venkat Reddy and Srikanth Reddy earlier worked as deputy manager, chemist and business development manager, respectively in the company. According to the police, while working in the company, Srikanth resorted to malpractices resulting in losses and damage to the company. He was subsequently fired in 2017.

Since then, he bore a grudge against the company. He then instigated Krishna to get data on some of the company’s products. For this, he lured Krishna with a job in an established healthcare company in Jeedimetla. Likewise, he also lured Venkat Reddy and Yogeshwara Rao promising them high paying jobs.

The suspects then allegedly stole data including Batch Production Control Records, Specifications, Certificate of Analysis, Standard Testing Procedures, Raw Data of drugs etc., with Krishna transferring this confidential data to his personal e-mail account and further sharing it with Srikanth.

“The data was fraudulently used to manufacture products in Visakhapatnam,” police said and added that these were then supplied to companies in Mumbai and other cities. The four were caught after the pharma company lodged a complaint alleging that data of their company was stolen. All the four were produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
