Four injured in group clash in Nalgonda

Meravath Soma, Meravath Nagulu, Mudavath Dasli and Meravath Sali were injured in the clash. They were shifted to Kamala Nehru Hospital at Nagarjuna Sagar for treatment.

Household property was damaged in the clash between two groups at Nayakuni thanda in Nalgonda district on Monday.

Nalgonda: Four persons were injured and 30 houses were damaged when two groups clashed, using country-made bombs and stones in Nayakuni thanda of Tirumalgiri (Sagar) mandal in the district on Monday.

When the village TRS leader Meravath Sakru Naik went to Sapavath thanda to pay homage to Sapavath Mangla Naik who died of old age, some Congress from the village, who were also present at the place, humiliated Sakru Naik. Sakru Naik’s son Dathu, on coming to know of the incident, went to Congress leader Meravath Seva Naik’s house and picked up a quarrel with him.

Reacting to it, about 30 persons belonging to Congress party attacked the houses of TRS leaders including Sakru Naik with country-made bombs and stones. The TRS leaders also resorted to counter attack, and during the clash, 30 houses belonging to both groups were damaged causing loss of Rs 30 lakh in household goods, including television sets, refrigerators and other appliances.

Meravath Soma, Meravath Nagulu, Mudavath Dasli and Meravath Sali were injured in the clash. They were shifted to Kamala Nehru Hospital at Nagarjuna Sagar for treatment.

Circle Inspector of Nagarjuna Sagar Venugopal said a police picket had been posted with 20 police personnel at the village and the situation was under control. A case has been filed and investigation taken up.
