Hyderabad: To address the traffic problems in the city, construction of four new Express Highways will be taken up, Mayor B Rammohan said here on Tuesday.
At a meeting with 125 site engineers who were taken on an outsourcing basis through the National Academy of Construction (NAC) for expediting various projects of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) here, Rammohan said the highways would be built on the lines of the PVNR Expressway on the Mehdipatnam-Shamshabad route.
The works on these Express highways from Uppal Ring Road to Warangal Highway, Jubilee Bus Station to Topkahana road, from Paradise to Suchitra Junction and from Balanagar to Balanagar Y Junction would commence soon, the Mayor said.
On the 2BHK Housing project, Rammohan said surveys have pointed out that nearly 4.50 lakh families were without a dwelling in the Greater Hyderabad limits and of the total 1.60 lakh housing units planned for the State, 1 lakh were being built in the city. For a lasting solution to drinking water problems in Hyderabad, two reservoirs at Shamirpet and on Ramoji Film City route too would be constructed.
Meanwhile, the GHMC will be taking the services of another 225 site engineers for the town planning wing, Rammohan added.
