Hyderabad: Four of a family tested positive for COVID-19 at Bangladesh Market in Bholakpur after a pregnant woman in the family went to different hospitals to get treated for backache. Primary contacts of the woman were tested and while three tested positive, the rest tested negative.
All the four were shifted to Gandhi Hospital while others were placed under home quarantine on Friday night. A containment cluster had been set up at their home on Saturday morning, an official from GHMC, Musheerabad circle, said.

In another incident, four persons from Pathan Basthi in Musheerabad tested positive. One person, who was suffering from a lung problem, happened to visit two hospitals for treatment. When he returned home, he developed fever and suspecting Covid symptoms the family members immediately alerted the GHMC and Health Department. On Thursday, after checking the health status of other family members, three of them tested positive and all were shifted to Gandhi Hospital for treatment, the official informed.
Meanwhile, GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar convened a meeting with Secunderabad zone officials and directed them to take up stringent measures, besides extensive spraying of disinfectants. Since the locality is densely populated, officials were instructed to conduct door-to-door survey and check the health status of residents in the area.
A mutton trader in Banjara Nagar of Borabanda tested positive and was shifted to Gandhi Hospital on Saturday. He had visited a relative’s home in Old City and had stayed there for about 10 days and returned to Borabanda two days ago, said an official from GHMC, Yousufguda circle, adding that he had voluntarily gone to the Chest Hospital to get his health checked.
He tested positive and his mother’s health was also checked. Her test report is awaited. A containment cluster has been set up and disinfectants were sprayed in the entire street, the official added.
