Warangal Urban: Four members of a family were found dead under suspicious circumstances in an open well near Supriya cold storage unit at Gorrekunta village under the Geesugonda police station limits on Thursday.

The deceased were Maqsood Alam (45), his wife Nisha (41), their daughter (22 years) and grandson (3). The bodies were retrieved by the police and sent for a postmortem to MGM Hospital.

Speaking to ‘Telangana Today’, Mamnoor ACP K Shyamsundar said the victims, the natives of West Bengal, had been eking out a living as labourers at Kareemabad in the Warangal city for the last 20 years. “They had been staying in the current locality for the past two months since they were working in a gunny bag stitching shop,” he added.

When asked whether the police suspected any foul play behind the deaths, he said: “We have not found any injuries on the bodies. We suspect it was a suicide pact. However, we can tell the exact cause only after getting the postmortem report.”

Locals, however, suspect they might have been murdered before dumping their bodies into the well since four other co-workers, reportedly belonging to Bihar, had gone missing since the morning. The Geesugonda police registered a case.
