Hyderabad: The traffic police have warned persons against unauthorised collection of money from public for parking at various places in the old city during Ramzan month.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) K Babu Rao said that arrangements for free parking of vehicles for shoppers and visitors to the historic Mecca Masjid have been made at four places.
The public have been requested to utilise the earmarked spaces at Old Pension Office, Motigalli road, Charminar Bus Station area, Khilwat playground, Mufeed-ul-Anam School and High Court Road.
“No person is authorised to collect money from the public. In case of anyone demanding the money, the public can directly call the police control room and complain. Our Inspectors and sub inspectors will immediately reach out to them,” said the DCP.
Thousands of people visit the centuries old markets of the old city to shop for Ramzan and parking always remain an issue. “Now, two new places have been earmarked at Charminar bus stand and Old Pension office at Motigalli. Around 500 vehicles can easily be parked at both the places. Adequate lighting arrangements have been provided and traffic home guards will be there to help keep the vehicles in order at parking,” explained the official.
The traffic volume around the Charminar and Pathergatti register a manifold increase during the month of Ramzan. Tourists from various places in the country also come visiting the historic markets here.
To handle the increased traffic, the police have drafted officers from other police stations for bandobast arrangements. Twenty five more policemen have been deployed at the places identified as high traffic points by the traffic inspectors concerned.
More number of policemen have been deployed at Madina Building junction, Motigalli junction, Mir Alam Mandi road, Panchmohalla junction and Moosa Bowli to clear traffic jams, said the DCP.
