Gachibowli street fight between groups leave 10 injured

Hyderabad: A late night drunken brawl on the streets of Gachibowli left 10 persons injured on Thursday.

Around 15 persons, mostly youngsters, were involved in the fight that began with fisticuffs around 8.30 pm near a wine shop at Kothaguda, and went on to escalate into a free for all with knives, iron rods, stones, and sticks at Raidurgam and Rajivnagar in Vaddarbasthi by midnight. Ten persons were injured in the clashes, all of whom were treated and sent off as outpatients in three separate private hospitals.

According to the police, around 6 pm on Thursday, Sateesh alias Sunny, Mahesh and Sreenu went to the RRG Wine Shop at Kothaguda, where they had an altercation with a waiter, Narsimha, while consuming liquor behind the shop. Two others, Ellesh and Vijaya interfered, following which Mahesh called his friend Pochaiah who came and settled the issue.

Sateesh went home, while Mahesh and Pochaiah went to Al Sabha hotel in Raidurgam and called Ellesh and Vijaya demanding an apology from them. Vijaya’s friend Mohammed Khaleel and others then intervened and thrashed Pochaiah and Mahesh at the hotel. A Raidurgam mobile patrol vehicle that reached the spot and disbursed the clashing groups.

However, the fight picked up again after Pochaiah and Mahesh alerted Satheesh, who led an eight-member group around 9.30 pm to Rajivnagar in Vaddarbasthi, where they clashed with Khaleel and his group.

Based on two complaints lodged by the two groups, the police have registered two cases under Sections 307 (Attempt to murder), 506 (Criminal intimidation), 148 (Rioting) r/w 149 (Unlawful assembly) of IPC and Section 25(1)(b) of Arms Act and are investigating.
