Visakhapatnam: Former minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao is likely to leave the Telugu Desam Party and join the YSR Congress Party shortly. Though the issue was hanging fire for some time, certain factors stood in the way of his entry into the ruling party, it was said. However, thanks to the intervention of mega star Chiranjeevi recently, the Chief Minister and YSRCP. president YS Jaganmohan Reddy is said to have agreed in principle to admit him.
In fact, the date is also tentatively fixed. Initially Ganta was to meet Jagan at his camp office in Tadepalli on August 15 along with some other TDP leaders but now it is advanced to August 9, it is said.

Ganta has been keeping away from the TDP activities for quite some time and was conspicuous by his absence during the recent Mahanadu also. The Kapu factor which saw Botsa Satyanarayana join the YSRCP ranks is also said to favour Ganta’s case and the ruling party after weighing its options, is opening the door for some top leaders of the TDP in time for the local bodies’ elections, political observers opine.
