GES picks momentum; Manushi Chhillar adds more glamour

Hyderabad: Networking, plenary sessions, breakout sessions, Master Classes, inspiring talks – everything is happening at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit which got down to business on Wednesday after the glittering inaugural ceremony on Tuesday. The glitter was still there, albeit in the form of Miss World Manushi Chhillar, who was part of a fireside chat at the GES.

While Advisor to the US President Ivanka Trump, Cherie Blair, founder, Cherie Blaire Foundation for Women, Chanda Kochhar, CEO, ICICI Bank and others were part of a plenary session on ‘We Can Do It! Innovations in Workforce Development and Skills Training’, moderated by IT Minister KT Rama Rao in the morning, there were more such sessions through the day.

Quite a few known names from other fields, from actors Aditi Rao Hydari and Poonam Kaur, to sports personalities Sunil Gavaskar, Pullela Gopichand, Sania Mirza, Mithali Raj and Harsha Bhogle, just to mention a few, participated in these sessions.

The day also saw T-Hub launching India’s largest accelerator and the Wadhwani Foundation’s flagship initiative, the National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) launching a Startup HelpDesk for Entrepreneurs, startups and SMEs, to mention a few of such developments.

On Thursday, the final day of the summit, Sonam Wangchuk, Founding Director of Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement Of Ladakh, and on whom Aamir Khan’s character, Phunsukh Wangdu in the movie ‘3 Idiots’ was based, is slated to participate in a session titled ‘From the Lab to the Market: Connecting Science to the Entrepreneurship World’. The session will be moderated by Anuradha Acharya, CEO, Mapmygenome.

Thursday will also have sessions including one titled ‘The City that Never Sleeps: Cities of Tomorrow: (Master Class) What Will The Cities of Tomorrow Look Like?’, to be moderated by Anjana Menon, founder and CEO of Content Pixies. The panelists will include Amitabh Kant, CEO, Niti Aayog, Ammory Lovins, Co-founder and Chief Scientist of Rocky Mountain Institute and Priyanka Bakaya, Founder and CEO, Renewlogy.
