Executive Engineer, Yesaiah said that they have received 3.35TMCft of water in 11 spells from Singur project to meet the demand of Yasangi paddy under the project this year.

Ghanpur anicut overflows following inflows from Singur project.

Medak: Ever-since the irrigation authorities have released 0.3TMCft water from Singur Multipurpose Project located in Sangareddy district on Sunday to already brimming Ghanpur anicut located in Medak district, the 0.46TMCft storage capacity project had started overflowing mid-summer.

Executive Engineer, Yesaiah said that they have received 3.35TMCft of water in 11 spells from Singur project to meet the demand of Yasangi paddy under the project this year.

The farmers have cultivated paddy in over 30,000 acres under the project. Since farmers living downstream the project have also took up paddy cultivation either side of the Manjira river stream, the Irrigation authorities let the water flow downstream besides releasing the water from left and right bank canals.

The overflowing project had started attracting a huge number of tourists. Since the Sri Vana Durgha Bhavani Temple, Edupayala located very close to the project, devotees arrived at the temple have also made a visit to the project.

However, the water will stop overflowing by tonight because the Irrigation officials at Singur have already stopped the release of water to downstream.
