Hyderabad: GHMC continues demolition drive on nala encroachments

The GHMC had served notices to the structure owners and was taking up demolitions in association with police officials in different areas.

Hyderabad: Continuing its special drive to clear encroachments on nalas, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Monday demolished several unauthorised structures on nalas in different areas of the city.

The municipal corporation had identified 738 critical unauthorized structures of different categories, which were obstructing the free flow of water in the nalas.

Accordingly, the GHMC had served notices to the structure owners and was taking up demolitions in association with police officials in different areas.

The municipal corporation is also making all efforts to provide houses under the JNNURM scheme for the poor and downtrodden, who lost their houses under the demolition drive.

On Monday officials cleared unauthorized structures on Shivaji Nagar nala, Sunnam Cheruvu, Sardar nala, Kaitalapur nala, Al-Jubail nala, Bahadurpura, Yakhutpura and Mullakatwa cheruvu to Kamuni cheruvu in KPHB 15th phase.
