Hyderabad: To help the Hyderabad Traffic Police take up restoration works effectively and clear uprooted trees and fallen branches faster, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has handed over generators, electrical chain saws, dragon lights, crow bars, axes, spades and other tools to the police.
All the equipment and tools, worth Rs 17.50 lakh, will be used during rains in case of any eventuality or damage. GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore handed over the equipment and tools to Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Kumar.
Most of the time, due to power cuts or disruption, clearing trees or branches fallen on roads proves to be a challenge for the traffic police to ensure smooth flow of vehicular movement. Though men are deployed to take up the task, it takes lot of time and this is where generators, electrical chain saws and other equipment will come in handy for the police, the officials said.
