CROWD PULLERS: GHMC is also launching new boats in the water body located inside the park.

Hyderabad: Visitors, especially children, at Indira Park can now look forward to boarding a train and enjoying a ride as Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is reintroducing the toy train in the much-loved park.

This apart, as an added attraction and convenience to the visitors, the municipal corporation is also launching new boats in the water body located inside the park. At present, only NTR Garden near the Secretariat is equipped with a toy train in the city. But unlike the one in NTR Gardens, in which adults are can also board in, the one at Indira Park will be exclusive for children. The train will have a capacity of 10-15 children per ride, a senior official from GHMC said.

The objective is to offer more facilities for the visitors, especially for children. Introduction of the toy train will help in increasing the number of visitors as parents will now be encouraged to bring their children also to the park, he said.

The toy train was introduced in Indira Park a decade ago, but was defunct for over five years. Efforts are also being made to launch boats in the water body of the park. Three pedal boats and one motor boat are operational, he said.
