Overall, 60,097 idols that were immersed in artificial ponds and 23,094 idols in lakes were removed by the GHMC staff.
From the wee hours of Monday, the sanitation wing was pressed into service at all the immersion points in Hussain Sagar and Saroornagar to remove puja material and Ganesh idols. At each crane that facilitated idol immersion, four staffers from the GHMC sanitation wing were deployed to remove the debris and idols.
