GHMC seeks expert help for betterment of roads

Due to rains, the roads were getting damaged frequently and this was incurring lot of expenditure to the municipal corporation, besides causing lot of inconvenience to road users.

Hyderabad: Drawing flak for poor road conditions in the city, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is seeking long term, mid-term and short term recommendations and suggestions on road maintenance from professors, experts and engineers.

GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy on Tuesday conducted a special meeting with professors from different institutes, including IIIT Bombay, JNTUH, and others. Experts involved in planning and works from different companies also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, Reddy said the city road network was spread over 9,000 km of which over 4,000 km was CC road network. Due to rains, the roads were getting damaged frequently and this was incurring lot of expenditure to the municipal corporation, besides causing lot of inconvenience to road users.

All the experts said a detailed report would be submitted to the municipal corporation shortly.
