GHMC’s step towards rain water harvesting

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is involving all sections of the society to ensure success of rain water harvesting pits maintenance day observed on May 18.

To this effect, Deputy Commissioners conducted meetings and programmes with colony associations and others in the 30 circles on Thursday to apprise them about the activities planned on the day.

In LB Nagar zone alone, nearly 800 rain water harvesting pits will be repaired and their operation and maintenance taken care. Measures are being taken to motivate colony associations to construct at least one rain water harvesting pit in respective areas.

In addition to this, initiatives are being planned to inspire colony associations and residents to keep their colonies clean and hygienic and handover segregated dry and wet waste to Swachh auto trolleys when they arrive for garbage collection, said a press release.
