Hyderabad: Governor ESL Narasimhan on Friday said both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were giving priority to irrigation, energy, health, education and industrial development with an investor-friendly approach.

Addressing a delegation of American industry who came to Hyderabad to attend the just concluded ‘Global Entrepreneurship Summit’ when they called on him at Raj Bhavan, Narasimhan said the Telangana government had launched Mission Bhagiratha to provide potable drinking water to every household in the State, besides taking up Mission Kakatiya which is aimed at rejuvenating water bodies and increasing groundwater table.

Stating that power was another priority for both the States, he said Telangana was ready to provide 24-hour uninterrupted power supply to industry and agriculture. The Governor also cited the example of Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad being the first in the country to go completely for solar-based power supply. Hyderabad also boasts a world-class international airport, he said.

Narasimhan explained about the measures taken by the State government with emphasis on institutional deliveries, bringing down infant mortality rate, distribution of health kits to expectant mothers, wage compensation, distribution of childcare kits and immunisation monitoring programme among others.

Replying to a query by a member of the delegation on women’s safety, the Governor said women’s safety was a priority for the Telangana government, and it had implemented She Teams project which ensures crime prevention and immediate redress of grievance.
