Govt will extend support to rain-hit farmers: Balka Suman

Suman visited several villages in Kishtampet and Bheemaram mandals to get first-hand information on the damage to mango and paddy crops caused by rains coupled with gale.

Mancherial: Chennur MLA Balka Suman on Saturday inspected mango and paddy crops which were damaged by unseasonal rains in several parts of Chennur two days ago.

Suman visited several villages in Kishtampet and Bheemaram mandals to get first-hand information on the damage to mango and paddy crops caused by rains coupled with gale. He interacted with farmers and assured them that the government would extend all support soon. He instructed officials of Horticulture and Agriculture Departments to carry out crop damage survey.

The legislator said that officials concerned would prepare a report and send it to the government. He stated that the TRS government was giving paramount importance to the welfare of agrarian community. He cited Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Beema schemes as major initiatives of the government for farmers’ welfare. He added that mechanisation of agriculture was also being encouraged.

Suman later toured Chennur town and inspected houses whose roofs had collapsed due to the showers recently. He asked revenue officials to provide commodities to the victims, besides granting compensation at the earliest. He said that unseasonal rains caused huge loss to farmers and general public as well.
