Sending across the message of protecting trees, Telugu director Sampath Nandi accepted the Green India Challenge and planted a sapling along with his family members at his agriculture farm near Chilkur, outskirts of the city. Speaking on the occasion, Sampath said it is everyone’s responsibility to protect the environment.

“It is high time that we realise the importance of nature and protect it by planting saplings. When I got to know the works of people like Padma awardee Vanajeevi Dharapalli Ramaiah and activist Thimakka of Karnataka, I felt very happy. But it gave me immense happiness when I heard about Rajya Sabha MP Joginapally Santosh Kumar who took up the mission to plant more than three crores of plants. So I have decided to do my bit by planting saplings at my farm. Due to the deadly virus Covid-19, we are forced to quarantine ourselves, take extra measures like wearing masks and sanitising ourselves frequently. I wish there would be no day where we have to attach oxygen cylinders on our back to survive on this earth. So it is essential to plant trees as much as we can. I thank Santosh Kumar for having shouldered such initiative to spread the social message,” he said. He further nominated Bhumika Chawla, Urvashi Rautela and Digangana Suryavanshi.

Meanwhile, southern actor Rashmika Mandanna too accepted the challenge from Samantha Akkineni. She announced it on her Instagram account by planting saplings at her house garden. “Thank you @samantharuthprabhuoffl for nominating me. I’ve accepted the #harahaitohbharahai #greenindiachallenge. Btw the struggle was real to get a picture without an awkward face,” she wrote. She further nominated Raashi Khanna, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Ashika Rangnath. Rashmika further asked her fans to plant three saplings each and continue the chain by tagging their friends and family.
