Hyderabad: With the on-time completion of formation of Farmers Associations Co-ordination Committees (FACCs) and moving at a jet speed for the constitution of mandal and district level committees, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is planning to appoint State level farmers co-ordination committee and its convener will be given a cabinet rank.
Nalgonda Parliamentarian Gutha Sukendhar Reddy’s name is doing rounds for the post. Reddy has a vast experience in dealing with Agriculture programmes and has a farming background.
The Chief Minister, who is pursing the formation of farmers committees starting from village level, is keen on appointing State level committee with in a fortnight.
The Chief Minister on several occasions had announced that the State level farmers committee would be made powerful and Rs 500-1,000 crore funds would be allocated to it to carry out various development programmes.
If Gutha Sukender Reddy’s name was considered for the convener’s post of State level FACC, he has to quit his MP post as per the Constitution. However, Reddy, though elected on Congress ticket, is working with ruling TRS party. Political observers are of the opinion that Chief Minister might ask for his resignation before assuming charge of convener.
