Siddipet: Former Minister, Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao and Vice-chancellor of Osmania University Prof S Ramachandram inaugurated the new building of PG College, Siddipet and a women hostel building here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Former Minister said they would initiate all efforts to provide the best infrastructural facilities at the PG College for the students. Rs 19.39 crore for PG College were granted for raising the building, and an additional grant of Rs 10 crore is expected within a few days for the development of the institution. The construction works of the boys hostel on the same premises will also be completed by Dasara festival he said.
Rao announced that the university administration was working to get some additional funds from Centre under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) project. The constituent college of Osmania University is offering courses including MBA, MCA, MSc (Chemistry), MCJ, MA Economics, MA English and four other courses, Rao said that the students from Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, and other districts taking admissions here. However, some of them are going back since lack of facilities at the college, he added. However, he assured to provide the best facilities at the college soon.
Harish Rao said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had brought the college in 1994 with an aim to develop Siddipet town into an education hub. The town was now having two medical colleges, Women’s Degree College, Polytechnic College, ITI College, SC Government Residential College for Women,and many other institutes in private sector, he said.
