Wanaparthy: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Monday termed the Congress claims of winning 70 of the 119 Assembly constituencies in Telangana in the 2019 elections was nothing short of daydreaming. Tearing into the Congress leadership for spreading false propaganda in the State, he lambasted the leaders for trying to cover up their failures as a ruling party earlier and as the Opposition now.

Speaking at Pamireddypali in Wanaparthy district, the Minister rubbished the statements of TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy who claimed that the previous Congress government completed 90 per cent of works pertaining to Kalwakurthy Project. “If his statements are true, then let him explain why the Congress government provided irrigation water to only 13,000 acres,” he said.

Harish Rao alleged that while Congress leaders focused on pocketing mobilisation advances and commissions from irrigation projects and providing water to only 50,000 acres during their 10-year term, the TRS government completed four projects in erstwhile Mahabubnagar district in three years and provided water to 6.5 lakh acres.

He pointed out that the Congress leaders had filed cases against the irrigation projects in the courts and were now expressing their love for farmers but none was ready to believe them. “If the TPCC chief has any love left for farmers, let him withdraw all cases filed against the irrigation projects and tender unconditional apology to farmers,” he said.

The Minister pointed out that despite mentioning it in their 2009 election manifesto, the Congress government was unable to provide nine-hour quality power to agriculture during the day. “Now that the TRS government has implemented uninterrupted power supply scheme and farmers are all praise for Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the Congress leaders are unable to hide their heartburn and hence, leveling allegations against the government,” he added. He stated that the State government was pro-farmer and its decisions were farmer-centric.
