Harshada Patil debuted with the Marathi movie ‘Shoor Aamhi Sardaar’ and later worked in ‘Family 420’ directed by Santosh Gaikwad. She rose to fame after starring in director R Balki’s ‘PadMan’, starring superstar Akshay Kumar, and is now set to make her Telugu debut in the film ‘Maitrivanam’. The release date of the film is awaited.

Born in Solapur in Maharastra, Harshada wanted to become an engineer, but destiny had something else designed for her. After her graduation in Pune, she did a diploma course in Frankfinn Institute of Air Hostess Training and was placed in Jet Airways in the international cabin crew department.

“When I was interning with Jet airways as an airhostess, I assisted many celebrities who boarded the flight and like everyone, even I wanted to have that admiration and attention,” laughs Harshada, who informs that she has completed 50 per cent of shooting for ‘Maitrivanam’.

The actor, who earned a stipend of just Rs 7,000 in the starting of her career, received ten times more in her first modelling project. “Once I was shopping with my friend at a mall in Bandra in Mumbai, where they were collecting the names and phone numbers of girls who are interested in modelling and films. I was confident that I wouldn’t get a call and just filled the application form casually. But, to my surprise, after some days, I received a call from the casting director. I went to the audition with my mother and I signed the contract for modelling,” says Harshada, who never looked back since then.

‘Maitrivanam’ is being directed by Prasad and her co-star is well-known Kannada actor Vishwa. When asked if she understands Telugu she quips, “I understand Telugu and speak a few words like ‘baagunnara’, ‘tinnara’, ‘yeppudu vastunnaru’. I have a few relatives in Hyderabad and whenever I visit the city, I visit Chutneys as I love idlis and dosas.”

Harshada is now gearing up for the next schedule of her film and she also has one Tamil project in the pipeline. The actor wants to make a mark for herself in south Indian films and says there are many talented people that she wants to work with if given a chance. She is a big fan of superstar Mahesh Babu and her dream role would be in a movie opposite him. She also wants to star with Dhanush in a Tamil film. On a parting note, Harshada urges people to be responsible during the pandemic.
