Hyderabad: A new controversy has erupted in the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) with video images of one of the administrators’ room being misused during Sunrisers Hyderabad-Chennai Super Kings IPL match on April 17 at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.

The video, which has gone viral, shows empty liquor bottles allegedly lying in Room F-14 of the stadium. The HCA is presently under the control of three administrators – Justice (retd) A R Dave and Justice (retd) G V Seethapathy and Ratnakar Shetty with C Panduranga Murthy as the CEO.

Reacting to the incident strongly, the CEO issued a statement that the video has come to the notice of the members of the Committee of Administrators, who are now seriously considering whether the policy with regard to issuance of complimentary passes should be suitably amended within the limitations/policy framed by the Lodha Committee.

“Some persons, who were given complimentary passes by the office bearers of Hyderabad Cricket Association, had misused Room No.14 (which is used by the members of the CoA as and when required for office purpose) by consuming liquor and using the said room in an absolutely uncivilized and unrefined manner.

“The fact is that not a single member of the CoA had visited the stadium on the day of the match nor a single guest of the members of the CoA had visited room No.14, which is used by the members of the CoA only when there is an official meeting of the CoA,” said the statement.

It further said: “Rooms No. 7 to 16 were occupied by the guests of office-bearers and the members of HCA either on basis of their membership or on account of complimentary passes issued.”

The statement further said it is deplorable that the members including office bearers of HCA or their guests on the basis of holding complimentary passes have acted in a very shameful manner and that too in the presence of the members/ office bearers of HCA.”

The CoA, in fact, has taken a serious view of the incident and they have already called for a list of spectators who had occupied Room No.14 and the members who had given complimentary passes to these spectators so that appropriate action can be initiated.”

It also said the fact that the entire process of distribution of the complimentary passes was handled by a committee consisting of members/office bearers of HCA in pursuance of a request made by the office bearers of HCA. Earlier, former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin has lashed out at the deplorable situation in HCA.

“It is sad that one of the administrators’ rooms is being misused for wrong purposes. I hope the three administrators will probe into this sordid incident. I understand entertainment is allowed in the corporate boxes during the IPL matches. But the sad part is that is being done in one of the administrators’ room.”
