Hyderabad: One of the reasons for Hyderabad’s poor show in the cricket season was the lack of the league matches. Even as the season is coming to a close, the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) is intending to complete the incomplete fixtures before the new season starts in June.
In a letter to the clubs, C Panduranga Murthy, the CEO of HCA, has said they are intending to complete the remaining matches of the year. It added: We would like to know if you prefer to play or otherwise.
The CEO has asked their preference by Saturday. This letter has put the various clubs in a quandary. “First of all, it is end of the season. Most of the cricketers are busy with examinations and playing in the hot sun is not advisable. It is ridiculous on the part of the HCA to complete during this part of the year,’’ said a club secretary.
It is to be seen how many clubs intend to play now and what will be the next move by the HCA.
Meanwhile, in another related development, D Kishan Rao, in-charge of the Gymkhana, has requested the CEO to provide coaches to train the under-privileged cricketers in under-14 and under-16 categories.
Rao said that there used to be coaches available for training budding talent from the under-privileged cricketers. “But it is not there now. So I have requested the CEO to appoint few coaches for that purpose,’’ he said.
