Hyderabad: Many are hailing Ian P. Grillot, 24, as a hero for trying to stop Adam Purinton, the suspect in the Kansas shooting. However, Grillot, who had a bullet go through his hand and into his chest, believes he did “just the right thing to do”.
Grillot, in a video interview released by the University of Kansas Health System, where he is under treatment, said he had hid behind a table when Purinton started shooting. He was counting the shots, and when he thought Purinton was out of ammo, jumped up to stop him but there was one bullet left, which he had to take.
“I guess I miscounted,” Grillot said, adding that he was doing what he should have done for another human being.
