Helpline for neurological stroke lauched

Hyderabad: A dedicated helpline for quick management of neurological stroke was announced by the Aware Gleneagles Global Hospitals, LB Nagar on Wednesday.

Launched by leading neurologists Suresh Reddy and Rahul, needy public can access this service by dialing 7330999641, according to a press release.

The hospital Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sharath Chandran said the launch of helpline number was intended to save lives of individuals by providing them access to the team of experts at AWARE Gleneagles Global Hospitals. “The golden window period of four hours is extremely critical and as part of Community Connect initiative, we plan to educate the general practitioners as well as the population at large to identify the symptoms of neurological stroke and send them to the nearest hospital which provides specialised care,” he said.

Neurological stroke can lead to partial or full paralysis of the body, leading to a healthy individual running the risk of being bedridden for life, said Dr Suresh Reddy, Senior Neuro Physician. “Timely treatment is extremely critical for management of stroke. Getting the person suspected of a stroke to the hospital where thrombolysis can be done is extremely critical, the window period available for all these treatment is four hours and its our duty to provide these people with accessible to treatment,” he said.
