Hyderabad: Himachal Pradesh coasted away to a four-wicket win over Hyderabad in the third round league match of Elite Group C encounter of the National women’s one-day championship at BOSE ground in Cuttack on Wednesday.
After commanding wins in their first two matches, Hyderabad women came cropper against HP. Put into bat, Hyderabad were shot out for 148 in 49.5 overs. Young G Trisha, who impressed as an opener in the first two matches, was sent back in the third over and her partner Himani Yadav too followed.
Seasoned-campaigner Mamtha Kanojia (30) and Ramya (25) revived Hyderabad’s innings. But once Kanojia, Ramya and skipper Shravanthi Naidu departed in quick succession, Hyderabad lost their way. Thanks to a gritty 71-ball 34 by Vanka Pooja, Hyderabad managed to put up a fighting total.
Neena N Choudhary guided HP to victory as she hit an unbeaten 49. HP romped home in 37.5 overs. For Hyderabad, Himani Yadav captured three wickets while Trisha bowled a tight spell to finish with figures of 10-4-31-1.
