Hyd girls emerge South Zone U-16 winners

Hyderabad team scored a narrow two-wicket win over hosts Andhra in their final league match to emerge champions in the South Zone Inter-State under-16 girls tournament.

Hyderabad: The undefeated Hyderabad team scored a narrow two-wicket win over hosts Andhra in their final league match to emerge champions in the South Zone Inter-State under-16 girls (30 overs) tournament in Vizianagaram on Wednesday.

They topped the table with 20 points with five wins out of five wins to take the honours.

Batting first, Andhra were bundled out for a poor total of 90 run with h major contribution coming from V Pushpalath, who made 56. In reply, Hyderabad ran into rough weather before recording a win with three balls to spare. S Manasa’s four-wicket haul went in vain as she could not help her side from restricting Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad and Kerala settled for a draw in the South Zone Inter-State tw-day under-14 boys tournament in Goa.
