Hyderabad: Whether it is food delivery apps or cabs on-demand apps, each and every one of them has come into being to make our lives easier and comfortable. Tapping into this segment and to help working class partners deal with the issue of laundry, Thabitha Sukumar along with her four partners started Hyderabad’s premium laundry service called Laundrykart.
With a unit in Patancheru, the company offers customers access to premium cloth washing, ironing and dry cleaning services that too in less than 48 hours. “I always wanted to do something for the working women who have the double burden of managing homes. While contemplating with many ideas, we thought of providing laundry services and that is how Laundrykart came into being. While there are many laundry service providers in the city, what makes us distinct is the fact that we pick and deliver clothes in 48 hours,” said Thabitha Sukumar, founder, Laundrykart.
The company set up a unit in Patancheru with a capacity of washing 3,000 to 4,000 clothes per day. And the fact that they are able to fulfill the needs of the customer is less than 48 hours is due to the carefully crafted business idea wherein the company has 12 outlets spread across Hyderabad and Secunderabad. As and when they get the order, the clothes are picked up by delivery boys and barcoded and sent to the unit. After all the clothes are washed, with the same barcode they are able to send it back to the outlet which in turn delivers the clothes to the customers.
“Regular washing, ironing and drycleaning we deliver in less than 48 hours. However, if the clothes need some extra care we seek an extra day but promise to deliver the clothes in less than 3-4 days. We have priced ourselves reasonably and are looking at opening 20 outlets across the city in the next four months,” she said and added that most of the stores are through franchisee and only when they feel that they need stores in faraway areas then they will open their own outlets.
Thabitha Sukumar and partners has so far invested Rs 3 crore in the business and have an employee base of 40-45 members including delivery boys and outlet managers.
