The third edition of Telangana Bengali Film Festival will be held at Prasad Preview Theatre, Banjara Hills from December 6 to 8. Audiences can catch the screening of 23 films, national and international, with English subtitles.
Film personalities Aparna Sen and Rakhi Gulzar are among several celebrities scheduled to participate in the event.
Being organised by Hyderabad Bangalee Samity in association with Tourism and Culture, Government of Telangana, Moving Images and UtsabCultural Association, the film festival will have a spectacular gamut of celebrities, divas and cinema lovers from Bollywood and Telugu film industry.
Spanning three days, the festival consists of eight films in two sections: Popular Films and a Retrospective, along with a range of award categories. Dedicated to showcase the rich heritage of Bengali cinema, it will have 10 feature films, eight short films, and three foreign films.
Harikrishna Mamidi, director, Department of Language and Culture, along with theatre personality Mohammad Ali Baig, announced the forthcoming film festival, a socio-cultural activity in the city.
Other participants include Bratya Basu, Minister of Forests, West Bengal and Saswata Chatterjee, brand ambassador of the festival.
Ranjan Kumar Roy Choudhury, chairman, Hyderabad Bangalee Samity says, “Eight lakh Bengalis residing here in the city are parched for cultural shows or movie screenings in Bengali.
TBFF – Aayna, 2019 will look to unite the huge Bengali diaspora living in Hyderabad and beyond and help them connect with the artistic, social, cultural and political ethos of their roots.”
