Hyderabad: For the first time in the country, NALSAR University of Law in collaboration with Humane Society International – India is establishing a Centre for Animal Law.
The centre, which is being launched to provide best education to the next generation of animal law attorneys, will be inaugurated by animal rights activist and Union Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi here on Friday.
“In environmental law and law curriculum itself, animal law is given very less importance. We are hoping that with this centre, we will be able to develop papers and studies on animal welfare issues through legal research,” Alokparna Sengupta from Humane Society International said.
“We will also develop curriculum and conduct training programmes through NALSAR University,” she said.
