Hyderabad lad enters finals of UN Action Awards

Akhilesh’s 100-day campaign highlighting the importance of SDGs placed him in the final spot of UN global awards.

Hyderabad: A 25-year-old, Hyderabadi, Singireddy Akhilesh Reddy with his initiative ‘Goals on Wheels’ to spread awareness on United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) has entered the finals of UN SDG Action Awards.

Akhilesh’s 100-day campaign highlighting the importance of SDGs placed him in the final spot of UN global awards. Of the 38 finalists selected for various categories in the awards, he is competing globally with seven others in ‘mobiliser’ category.

He said that out of few selected from Asia, he is the only one from India and is also in the race of people’s choice award which will be decided by online voting the link being http://sdgactioncampaign.org/sdg-action-awards-2018-finalists/goals-on-wheels/. During his campaign, Akhilesh met around one lakh school students in 100 schools across the city to highlight the importance of UN-SDGs.

The award ceremony will be held at Global Festival of Action for Sustainable Development in Bonn, Germany from March 21 to 23.
