Hyderabad: The police will take legal action against foreigners who violated visa rules prescribed by the Central government and entered the State after taking part in Tablighi Jamaat congregation at Nizamuddin in Delhi in mid-March. The decision to take action comes in the wake of directions from Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), which has blacklisted 960 foreigners, present in India on tourist visas, for their involvement in Tablighi Jamaat activities.
The MHA has also asked the Director-Generals of Police of all States and Union Territories to take necessary legal action against such violators, on priority, under relevant Sections of the Foreigners Act, 1946 and Disaster Management Act-2005. “We received communication from the Ministry to take action against the foreigners who violated the visa rules,” a senior police official confirmed adding that the process to identify the number of foreigners was already on.
