Hyderabad: Man gets 5 yrs RI for molesting sister

Mohammed Shabbir (25), a resident of the old city, was arrested by the Shahinayathgunj police earlier this year for sexually assaulting his sister in the house. He was booked under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and IPC.

Hyderabad: The First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge, who is also the in-charge Presiding Officer for the Special Court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) here, sentenced a man to five years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) on Wednesday for sexually assaulting his minor sister. The court also imposed fine of Rs 1,000 on him.

Mohammed Shabbir (25), a resident of the old city, was arrested by the Shahinayathgunj police earlier this year for sexually assaulting his sister in the house. He was booked under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and IPC.

While pled not guilty till the end, Additional Public Prosecutor K Pratap Reddy argued that he be punished severely. The court, which heard both sides, found Shabbir guilty and pronounced the five-year RI sentence.
