Hyderabad: Man held for attention diversion

Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat issued an order detaining Ramavath Naresh, an attention diversion offender under the Preventive Detention Act here on Wednesday.

Naresh, 27, an auto-rickshaw driver from Ramanthapur used to conduct recce of residential colonies on his motorcycle and target elderly women. Since 2011, he has been committing offences and was involved in six cases until now, according to the police.

“He looted women posing as a cop in LB Nagar, Hayathnagar and Kacheguda. He was earlier arrested and remanded to judicial custody. He continued to commit offences after being released on bail recently,” police said.

He was last arrested by the LB Nagar Police in July and recovered gold and silver ornaments. The PD Act order was executed on him at Central Prison in Cherlapally, where he is currently lodged.
