Hyderabad: The Hyderabad-Madhya Pradesh Vijay Hazare under-16 quarterfinal match is heading for a close finish. Chasing 254 for a win, the visitors were 74/4 in 39.3 overs at the end of the penultimate day’s play of the four-day match at Gymkhana grounds on Wednesday.
Resuming at their overnight score of 19 for 1, Hyderabad batsmen floundered against Aryan Pandey (4/40) and Yatendra Prajapati (6/33) before they were bowled out for 144 for 60.4 overs. Bowling at a good pace, Prajapati and Pandey removed the top order, including first innings centurion Murugan Abhishek. However, Dheeraj Goud stood with a determined 36 before he was caught and bowled by Pandey.
Hyderabad were reduced to 76 for 7 in 30 overs. There was a rearguard action by Nitin Sai Yadav (21) and Pranav Verma (37) who helped Hyderabad cross the three-figure mark in the second innings.
In a pursuit of a modest target, MP were in trouble by close of stumps as Arnav Kothapally and Abhishek snapped up two wickets each.
