Hyderabad: Organs of 18-year-old boy donated under Jeevandan

Hyderabad: Relatives of a 18 year old boy who was declared brain dead after receiving grievous injuries in a road accident, have agreed to donate the organs of the deceased under Jeevandan organ donation programme. Six organs were collected and sent to various transplant centres in the city.

M Prashanth, son of a daily wage earner and resident of Fateshapoor village, Ragunathapally mandal in Warangal was crossing Neredmet cross-road when he was hit by a speeding two-wheeler on August 5. In the accident, Prashant received severe head injuries and was immediately shifted Yashoda Hospital Secundarabad. After treatment for a day, he was declared brain dead by treating Neuro-Physician.

The family members of Prashanth were given counselling by Jeevandan transplant coordinators and importance of organ donation was explained to them. After grief counselling, the family agreed for organ donation.
