Hyderabad: The Narsingi police filed a petition before the court seeking police custody of socialite turned Tollywood producer Shilpa Chowdary and her husband Tella Krishna Prasad, who were arrested on Saturday in connection with an alleged multi-crore fraud. The petition is expected to be heard on Monday.
The couple was arrested following two cases booked against them for alleged cheating of two individuals to the tune of Rs 2 crore and Rs 1.50 crore on the pretext of investment in real estate. Under the guise of hosting kitty parties at their posh villa in Gandipet, Shilpa reportedly lured several persons into investing huge money in the real estate business.
The police are now focused on knowing more about the racket and start the process of tracking the money. The police during the preliminary investigation learnt that the money collected by the couple was diverted into the real estate business. The police identified a few accounts where the money was transferred and are also probing other channels through which the money was collected and diverted.
A few more people who were cheated by the couple are expected to approach the police and make complaints. It is learnt the couple collected over Rs 30 crore from different persons over a period of time and duped them.
