Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Police’s Special Operations Team raided five illegal gutkha godowns in Ibrahimpatnam and arrested one person for selling the contraband here on Thursday.
Sources from the SOT said following a tip-off, the illegal godowns were raided and products worth about Rs 1 crore was seized. One person, identified as Syed Khader, a resident of Ibrahimpatnam, was also arrested. The SOT officials are expected to show arrests and give seizure details in a press meet on Friday.
Five nabbed for bid to sell ganja
The Prohibition and Excise Department on Thursday arrested five persons for allegedly attempting to sell marijuana to persons known to them.
Fifteen kg of marijuana was seized from the possession of arrested persons, Laddu Singh and Raju Singh, both residents of Dhoolpet, M Dinesh of Jagadgirigutta, Koluvula Shivakumar of Kukatpally and Mangilal of Saibabanagar in Kukatpally.
Two mobile phones and two bikes were also seized from them. Pradeep Singh alias Munnu and Mukesh Singh, both residents of Lower Dhoolpet, were absconding, Assistant Excise Superintendent N Anji Reddy said.
Two property offenders held
The Bollaram police arrested two property offenders who had reportedly snatched away mobile phones from two persons early this week and recovered the gadgets.
The arrested persons were identified as MB Sairaj (26) and Mohammed Kareem (35), both residents of Sadar Bazaar in Bollarum.
The duo had snatched the mobile phones from Ellaboina Shekar, a private employee, and his brother-in-law Akula Krishna at Adarshnagar on Wednesday night. Following the complaint, the police nabbed them within hours and seized the two phones.
