Hyderabad: A 16-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by her father four years ago lodged a complaint against him with Rajendranagar police here on Tuesday.
The girl’s mother was the first wife of the accused, Venkatesh (40), a labourer working in Banjara Hills. They separated when the victim was a child, and Venkatesh had re-married. The minor lives with her father, stepmother and co-siblings in Rajendranagar.
According to the police, the incident occurred four years ago while she was working with her father in a cement factory in Nalgonda district.
“He sexually violated her in their house in the absence of other family members. The teenager did not reveal about the ordeal to anyone then,” police said.
The victim, who recently appeared for her Class X examinations, allegedly left the house after a fight with her father and went on to stay with her mother.
“After staying with her mother for about a week, she revealed about the exploitation. She then complained to child welfare officials,” the police said.
The child welfare officials met the girl on Monday night. Based on their complaint on Tuesday, the Rajendranagar police booked a case of rape and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
