Hyderabad: The World Design Assembly, a two-day event of the World Design Organization (WDO), will be held in Hyderabad on October 11 and 12.
The 31st WDO Assembly will also have a simultaneous five-day local design event, under the theme ‘Humanising Design’, organised by India Design Forum. It will include installations, interventions, exhibitions and workshops demonstrating the power of design to improve lives.
Former IT and Industries Minister and TRS working president KT Rama Rao on Thursday tweeted: “Hyderabad set to host yet another international event: World Design Assembly on the 11th & 12th October, 2019. Welcome to Hyderabad & India @worlddesignorg”.
Last year, when announcing the selection of Hyderabad as the host city for the WDO Assembly, the organization said: “The city of Hyderabad presented an outstanding proposal, with numerous opportunities to position design as a critical tool for addressing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”.
The WDO president Luisa Bocchietto then said: “We look forward to working with the Government of Telangana and the local design community to elevate the role of design in creating inclusive, resilient, and sustainable cities”.
The two-day WDO Assembly will be preceded by a Research and Education Forum on 10 October, WDO said on its website.
