Hyderabad: Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Anil Kumar directed traffic officials to organise a special drive against violations of sound pollution in the city and ensure motorists use only company-fitted silencers.
The directions were issued following complaints of use of heavy horns and silencers resulting in pollution and disturbance to the public.
“Honking and modified company-fitted vehicle silencers are causing inconvenience to citizens. The issue should be addressed on a priority basis,” he told the officers.
The official asked traffic police to detain water tankers that are 15 years old and hand it over to the Transport Department for further action. He also directed them to keep a check on private buses and not allow them into the city during non-permitted hours.
Anil Kumar reviewed the cases pending for filing charge-sheet and directed them to clear them soon.
In the run-up to the forthcoming Parliamentary elections to Lok Sabha, he instructed all the officers to ensure the free flow of traffic during rallies, nominations, processions organised by political parties, and there should not be any inconvenience to the public. All the officers were instructed to be available on roads during peak hours of traffic.
