Hyderabad: The East Zone Task Force on Friday arrested a youngster and seized seven kilos of marijuana from him at Mangalhat here.

The arrested person was identified as Kailash Panchal, 23, a resident of Dhoolpet and an idol maker by profession. The prime suspect, Lalith Singh, is absconding.

According to Task Force Additional DCP, S Chaitanya Kumar, Singh was a known drug peddler and was arrested earlier in similar cases and jailed. He procured marijuana from an unidentified source and stored the same before selling.

“Singh employed Panchal to transport and sell drugs on a commission basis,” police said.
Following an alert, the Task Force nabbed Panchal while he was transporting marijuana and seized seven kilos of the drug, a bike and other material from him. Efforts are on to nab Singh.

Panchal was handed over to the Mangalhat police who produced him before court and remanded him in judicial custody.
