Hyderabad: A 45-year-old Hyderabadi, Rajiv Kumar Putam, who met an untimely demise in Texas, United States on Saturday, gave a fresh lease of life to three persons with his heart, lungs, and liver.
According to information reaching here, Rajiv, who was living in Houston city of Texas State with wife Bhagya and two children, aged 15 and 11.
After dropping his daughter Keertana for dance classes at Upasana Kalakendra in Katy, Texas around 7 am and returned home. According to a post on Kalakendra’s official Facebook page, he collapsed at home around 7.40 am and was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
He had suffered a ‘very serious’ brain hemorrhage and a large amount of blood had clotted in his brain, giving no scope to doctors to save him.
Rajiv has left an indelible mark in the lives of three people through the donation of his organs, for which his wife Bhagya gave consent while struggling to come to terms with her loss.
According to an update from the hospital, a 41-year-old man received Rajiv’s heart, while a 21-year-old youngster would have his lung and a 41-year-old man would get his liver.
The American Telugu Association and friends of the family have stepped in to help Bhagya and the children. A crowdfunding campaign on www.gofundme.com to help Bhagya and the children has seen 501 persons donating 44,218$ in 22 hours against a target of 2,00,000$.
