Hyderabad: Planning a career in International Business? Here is a good Opportunity. The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) one of the premier B-Schools in the country is offering a course in MBA in International Business (IB).
The MBA (IB) is a general management course with special emphasis on International Business. Besides doing a general MBA (as is done in other B-Schools), IIFT students are exposed to the international perspectives of various subjects by virtue of their doing courses like international marketing, international finance, international strategy and the like, said Ramanth Kanakadandi, Course Director CAT exam, TIME. As business of the industries and companies are expanding globally, the demand for the professionals with requisite skills in the international business is on the rise.
In the international placement drive conducted, three students of IIFT have bagged a package of more than Rs1 crore per annum and six students over Rs75 lakh per annum. As many as 20 students have been given international roles as against15 the last year. A total of 94 companies have done campus recruit at IIFT this year. The average salary offered was Rs18.41 lakh per annum and highest domestic package was Rs 29 lakh per annum.
Some of the companies which made offers to students include Goldman Sachs, ITC, JP Morgan, Marico, Godrej, Amazon, ICICI Bank, HDFC, Citibank, HSBC, Axis Bank, Cognizant, Tata Steel, Infosys Consulting Management, L&T etc.The Institute has invited applications for the entrance examination. Candidates with recognised bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration in any discipline with 50 per cent marks in graduation are eligible to apply. Also students appearing in the final year of graduation can apply and there is no age limit.
The admission test consists of multiple choice objective type questions covering English grammar, vocabulary and comprehension, general knowledge and current affairs, logical reasoning, data interpretation and quantitative analysis. “Except for the section on general knowledge, all the other sections of IIFT get well covered with a good preparation for Common Admission Test (CAT). However, it would be advisable for a student to work on his/her speed mathematics as some of the questions under Data Interpretation tend to be calculation intensive,” Ramanth said.
Subject experts advise that while preparing for general knowledge section, students should focus on issues related to national & international events, world bodies, and foreign trade-related information. Based on the marks obtained in the written test, candidates will be called for group discussion, interview and writing skill assessment which would be held during January/February 2018. The admissions will be done for IIFT- New Delhi and Kolkata.
