Hyderabad: It’s raining job offers for BTech students of International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad’s (IIIT-H) graduating batch of 2018, that too from leading international companies.
Several students of IIIT-H landed with job offers from Goldman Sachs, Google, Bloomberg, Facebook and Booking.com, among other multinational companies. Pravalikka Etoori (22), a student of the dual degree BTech in Computer Science and MS in Computational Linguistics programme, bagged an offer from Goldman Sachs. Hemanth Veeranki, who did his internship with Google, was absorbed by the Internet giant.
“The deciding factor was the type of work I would be doing in the role I was being offered. Later, the brand value of Goldman Sachs and the location being London weighed in on the decision,” Pravalikka said.
A similar offer from Google’s London office was given to 22-year-old Ayush Mishra, who interned as Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). “I was an SRE intern and my role now is that of a software engineer in the same team,” he said.
In the case of Abhinav AggarwaI, an intern at Google’s Mountain View headquarters in summer 2017 was extended into a fulltime offer from the company subsequently. Likewise, Mrinal Dhar, a graduate in Computer Science and Computational Linguistics, bagged a job offer from Bloomberg.
Vatika Harlalka, who applied directly for a job through the Facebook portal, was offered the role of a software developer. She did her dual degree with a B Tech in Computer Science and MS by Research in Computational Natural Sciences. “Having a resume peppered with extra-curricular activities helps,” said Vatika who was co-ordinator of Literary Club and Litfest, held as part of the Felicity on the campus.
Another student of BTech and MS in Robotics, Roopal Nahar, got a job offer from Booking.com. While she starts as a graduate software developer, after nine months she will be given a software developer post. “The graduate software developer has the liberty to choose his or her own projects after exploring them during the first nine months. So that’s a big plus point,” she said.
IIIT-H will hold its 17th convocation for the graduating batch of 2018 on Saturday.
