Indians protesting Warangal rape in Kuwait arrested

A group of 50 people were held by security services. Any type of gathering or protest is not allowed in Kuwait or any Gulf country

Jeddah: A group of 24 Indians mostly from Kadapa district were arrested in Kuwait for gathering illegally and holding protest against gruesome rape and murder of a nine-month-old infant by a 28-year old man in Warangal.

Some of the Telugu NRIs, after hearing about Warangal case called for gathering at Sheraton Roundabout in Malia street in Kuwait on Friday evening, as some thousands of Telugu men and women congregated on Friday, which is a weekend in Gulf.

A youth from Kadapa called for gathering through social media and also kept live stream to attract and join more people, sources told Telangana Today. Most of the arrested were known faces on social media platforms in Kuwait, they added.

50 people gathered, among them 24 were holding placards and raising slogans, who were detained by state security services, the elite, primer intelligence and security wing of the country, said a local media report.

Any type of gathering and protest, demonstration is not allowed in Kuwait or any of the gulf country. Such actions are considered as serious security offense and participants would be deported with the lifetime ban to prevent their entry in any of gulf state after serving the sentence.
